4. USE GOD'S WORD TO EFFECT THE TRAINING OF YOUR CHILDREN
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Tim. 3:16
God is very much interested in the upbringing of our children that's why He gave us His word. We should use God's word to teach, to reproof, to correct and to instruct our children in righteousness.
This means, when you want to correct any bad character in your kids, look for relevant scriptures and use that to correct that child
If you want to teach any virtue for your kids like humility, generosity, prayerfulness etc., use relevant scripture to teach that child such virtue
If you want to rebuke a child for a misbehavior, use relevant scripture to rebuke the child; show the child the consequences of such evil behavior both in this world and in the world to come.
Unfortunately, many parents chooses to use their own understanding to train this children, that's why they abuse them with words and with canes etc.
The word of God is the tool of the Holy Spirit, once you use the word of God to instruct, teach, reproof, and correct your child, the Holy spirit would take it up from there and effect the word of God on them. Therefore, whether you are there or not to reiterate the word, the Holy Spirit would keep impressing it on them until they are totally transformed in righteousness.
Don't be tempted to use your wisdom to effect the training of your children; always use God's word to the train your child.
This means as parents, we ought to know the word of God ourselves so as to know how to effect it in the lives of our children.
When we use God's word on our children, we'll raise a generation of worded men; men empowered by God's word to live above sin and all the powers of darkness.
PRAYER:
1. May I not rely in my understanding in the training of my children
2. May I trust in your word and use it effectively in raising righteous children
3. May the Holy Spirit inspire me to use God's word more effectively in the training of my children
All these I ask in Jesus name.
