light and short-timed affliction

TOPIC: LIGHT AND SHORT-TIMED AFFLICTION
MAIN TEXT: 2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory
INTRODUCTION
Salvation is strictly by faith in the Lord Jesus and His finished works on the Cross of Calvary and by any means our making ‘Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast’. The only way we participate in earning salvation is by trusting in Christ and not in our sufferings or sacrifices.
Though the bible teaches about afflictions, the afflictions the bible teaches isn’t what most of us have come to know and experienced.
QUESTIONS/DISCUSSIONS
1. LIGHT: Mt 11:30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." God doesn’t yoke us with hardships or make us experience a great burden. Many Christians aren’t having a light burden, this is the making of the devil. The devil has yoked them with very heavy burdens and they’ve accepted it with the idea that they are suffering for righteousness’ sake.
2. FOR A MOMENT: 1Pe 5:10 ¶ And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you. The suffering was meant to be for a moment, yes, a little while.
3. CHRIST HAS TAKEN OUR SORROWS: Isa 53:4 ¶ Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. Christ bore our grieves and sorrows so that we won’t need to bear it again this is the reason our affliction should be light and last for no long. Those suffering are suffering for their ignorance of this truth and not because God made it so
4. ORDAINED FOR GLORY: God has ordained us for glory and prosperity. We are ordained for lasting success ‘John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide...’ and glory ’…the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you’ 1Pet. 5:10
CONCLUSION:
Those Christians who are suffering and believing that they are suffering because of their faith should understand that suffering for our faith is made to be light and very temporary. If you’ve suffered for years, you need this revelation.
