TOPIC: EARNING DECIETFULLY
TEXT: He that hath clean hands,
and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn
deceitfully. Ps 24:4
INTRODUCTION: Deceitful earning is any means through which
we earn money or favor or services that betrays our faith in God and the very
instructions of God. Today we shall be discussing few ways believers lifts
their souls unto vanity and earn deceitfully.
QUESTIONS/DISCUSSIONS
1. WHATS CLEAN HANDS AND PURE HEART: a clean hand results from a pure
heart because as the heart is, the hands would respond so it can be said that
the hand is only the tool of the heart. What we do with our hands is the result
of what is in our heart to do. Is the works of your hands the result of a pure
heart or a greedy heart? If you do sinful businesses to earn, your hands aren’t
pure. Mention businesses Christians do today that shows their heart aren’t pure
(Micah 2:1)
2. WHAT’S LIFTING ONES’ SOUL TO VANITY: vanity is whatsoever that has no eternal value or
whatsoever that poses the danger of denying us eternity with God. When we began
doing business that is unlawful and sinful, and then we’ve lifted our soul unto
vanity. Christians selling goods that are sinful to consume like hard-drugs,
alcohols, abortion-pills, and every goods that encourages people to sin against
God. (mark 8:36)
3. WHAT’S SWEARING DECEIFTULLY: when we lie to earn scores or certificates or wealth to
authorities and individuals concerned. When we purposely false represent, give
and take bribe, we’ve sworn deceitfully. (Ex 23:8)
4. WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THESE: we shall not ascend the hill of the Lord or enter his
Holy places meaning we shall not see heaven and while we are on earth, we shall
not receive the blessings from the Lord and righteousness from the God of our
salvation (ps 24:3)
CONCLUSION: the blessings we receive from the
Lord would make us greater than the privileges or favors or wealth we earn
deceitfully. Sin can’t make anyone richer than how righteousness would make
such a person rich if such person would shun sin and abide in righteousness and
righteous business and earning.
