AVOID TRIGGERS
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness,
faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2
Timothy 2:22
A man was burnt to death by the very fire he triggered. His
son reported that his father wanted to set a little controlled fire that will
warm him but the fire went out of control because all his surroundings were
filled with dry leaves. So when the wind blew the fire spread and he was eventually
caught in it.
Similar things are
the story of most of the people that fell into sexual sin that I have
counseled, they just wanted a little petting, a modest touch, holding hands, a
nice compliment etc. nothing extreme but they ended up been violated. Our world
is filled with dry leaves, avoid whatsoever that will set it on fire even when
you intend setting little fire because it will extent to an inferno.
One danger about sex
is that once you have it for the first time, you may find it hard to resist the
temptation of having it again and again. God made sex strictly for married
couples and by that they should depend on each other for satisfaction. When you
have illicit sex with someone you are not legally tied to, you’ve made yourself
sexually depended on that person even if you don’t want it again.
When you have illicit sex, you’ll surely keep having it till it ruins your life and the more you have it the less likely are you able to resist it even when you don’t want to have it or with whom you don’t want to have it with.

Our text says we
have to flee (run, fly, escape) from youthful lust or triggers.
Don’t start what you don’t want to continue, avoid those ‘is not a sin’ holding of hands, hugging, pecking etc.. that will eventually lead to sin.
The human biochemistry works like this, the more you hug, the more you want hug, the more you kiss, the more you’ll want it etc. and thereby leading to fornication.
To serve God and to keep yourself pure, avoid those little triggers that might set you on an uncontrollable fire that will destroy your life and destiny and if you’ve found yourself under this kind of bondage you have to give your life to Christ and ask the Holy Ghost help you put your body under control even as you decides to avoid triggers.
