SPEAKING IN TONGUES
THE MINISTERS CHAPEL
INTERNATIONAL
TOPIC: SPEAKING IN TONGUES
TEXT: And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall
they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. Mark
16:17
INTRODUCTION: When you are adopted and
become the citizen of heaven, you must endeavor to speak in the language of
such citizens. Christ said, those who believe in Him shall speak in tongues.
QUESTIONS/DISCUSSIONS
1.
THE NEW TONGUES: when Jesus said ‘new
tongues’, he was referring to tongues not known to man irrespective of his
tribe, tongues can can’t be learned like we learn the tongues of men.
2.
THE BENEFITS OF TONGUES
IS FOR EVERY BELEIVER: your spirit speaks directly to God (2 Cor. 14:2,14), pray
according to God’s will (Rom. 8:27), self edification (2Cor 14:4,18), your
faith is built (Jude 20)
3.
SHOULD ALL SPEAK IN
TONGUES? 1Cor
12:30 has confused many to believe that all shouldn’t speak in tongues, the
reason being that they forget to understand that Paul was talking about the
special gifts of speaking in diverse tongues and not the one we receive at baptism.
When the 70 elders were baptized (Num 11:25), they all spoke in tongues
(prophesy) and in (Acts 2:4) all the believers spoke in tongues. Christ says
all believers shall speak in new tongues and Paul further said in 1 Cor. 14:23
that all can speak in tongues during a service.
CONCLUSION: the spirit of God takes
over our tongues and we shouldn’t resist Him when He gives us utterances. A child
of God can only be able to speak in tongues once he is baptized in the Holy
Ghost. Desire to be baptized today, the promise is for you
