STRENGTHENING THE POOR 7
BUILD GOODWILL.
one day a man died without much inheritance left for his children because he was poor. One of his child was bitter about it though he had trained them through all the level of education he could.
one day, one of the sons went in search of a job and submitted his CV and was waiting outside the office with hundreds of people who have come for that same job. The CEO of the company came out himself to ask the throng of applicants who is Charles Obi, the boy reluctantly said, its him, so the man asked him to come in.
are you the son of Mr Peter Obi, and he said 'yes' he is my father, but he is late now sir he added. Yes I heard the CEO said, I'm sorry I couldn't come for his funeral. After some moment of silence the CEO said, your father was a good man, though i never had any relationship with him but from afar I saw how good he was. When we lived on the same street, he'll always clean the front of my yard while he does his though i never stoop to thank him or pay him, but he never stopped, he continued doing it till I moved out of that street.
So you want to work here he asked Charles, he affirmed by nodding his head, well, considered yourself employed.
The next week after Charles completed a training course, he was offered a well furnished house and car and his siblings too were fixed in the company afterwards all these because of the good will their father has with the CEO
Whoever is building up the goodwill of men is not poor even if he doesn't have money and whoever has money without the good will of men is very poor.
Having a good name is easy, it requires no professionalism, no academic certificates and not skills or talents, all you need is a selfless heart. Help people with menial jobs, if you are walking same direction with someone who is carrying heavy load, help lighting such load. If you on your generator and it can power your neighbor's house or shop without any extra cost on you, connect that neighbor for free, greet people properly and avoid being rude.
You are rich when men think good of you and sooner or later their goodwill will save you from financial crisis.
The rich man whom everyone hates is very poor, his wealth would not be passed over to his children.
To train an illiterate African to be rich, teach him to build up the good will of men wherever he is, let him look beyond himself and help whether he is being noticed or not.
Poverty is driven by greed and selfishness, while wealth comes with generosity and selflessness.
The greedy man would soon be poor while the selfless man would soon be rich. When we are passionately willing to create value in our society that's the foundation for building good-will and eventually wealth.
God bless you
