DON'T BE ENVIOUS OF SINNERS
TOPIC: DON’T BE ENVIOUS
OF SINNERS
TEXT: Let not thine heart envy
sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. Prov. 23:17
INTRODUCTION: Ye have said, It is vain
to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that
we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the
proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt
God are even delivered. Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another:
and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written
before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. Malachi 3:14-16
QUESTIONS/DISCUSSIONS
1. WHAT ARE THE SITUATIONS THAT’LL MAKE THE RIGHTEOUS MURMUR IN
THEIR HEART: when the unrighteous are happier; they have better jobs, pay and
marriage etc. these make the righteous who pray and fast daily to murmur within
their hearts
2. WHY SHOULDN’T WE MURMUR THOUGH THE WICKED ARE PROSPERING: For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not
be cut off. Prov 23:18. We shouldn’t murmur because there is an
end to the prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous. Sinners
have no future but the saints do. What you see the sinners enjoying today will
surely vanish sooner rather than later and what you see the righteous suffer
will sooner end and their expectation will come to pass.
3. WHAT IS GOD’S PROMISE FOR THE RIGHTEOUS: (Mal. 3:16-18) that He’ll bless the
righteous with greater blessings than all the wealth sinners earn via their
falsehood and sinfulness and the world would be able to discern between the
righteous who calls on God and the unbeliever who cheats to make wealth.
CONCLUSION:
The
devil can never give anything good to anyone because he has nothing good to
give and no one can make anyone more prosperous than God can make such a one. Never
be envious of the wicked because surely, there is an end to the prosperity of
the wicked and most importantly the expectation of the righteous will always
come to pass.
