THE PROBLEM WITH AFRICA 2
An African was told to ask for whatsoever he wants, mind you, whatsoever you ask for we’ll give double to your brother he was told. He thought of asking for an house, the thought of his brother having two houses wasn’t good for him, he thought of having a million in his account, the thought of his brother having two million haunted him. He sat down and brain-stormed, ‘what would I have ‘one’ and when my brother has it double he won’t be better than I am?’ He asked himself and then he thought of having one of his eyes removed so that his brother might have his two eyes gouged.
This is the typical African mentality that has set Africans backward for ages and made witchcrafts to thrive in Africa. An African wants to be better than his brother at all cost. The African man is only careful to share his beer not his books, to spread his diseases and not the cures, to transfer his problem and not his solutions.
When an African man fails, he wishes his brother same fate so that he won’t be the only one who had tasted the bitterness of failure. An African man is happy when evil besets his brother.
When an African man succeeds, he’ll want to make his brethren his slaves; he’ll wants the gap between him and his brother widen day by day, he’ll want to outperform his brother in every angle and he wouldn’t want to give his brother any chance of success because he wants to be the only one succeeding.
When an African man is on the seat of authority, he’ll never want to rotate that seat to his brother.
In African schools, rich student wouldn’t want another student borrow their texts books because they want to stay top of the class and if they can’t, they won’t want to be the reason another student is outperforming them.
When you discover the way yourself, an African man who refused to show you the way would do all he can to stand on the way so that you don’t grow up.
An African man is ever ready to spend money to intimidate and make his brother look like nothing before him.
Very few African men had showed the willingness to help others come up and take their turns in the place of power and authority. I’m so proud of Strive Masiiyiwa of Zimbabwe, he mentors people free online, Fela Durotoye of Nigeria and the selfless late Nelson Mandela of South Africa who gave up the seat of power though he could have retained it like most other African leaders had.
One more African whose attitude gave hope to Africa is the current Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa who just got hold of power from Mugabe and is willing to let go of such power by calling for election. A man like that deserves an award of selflessness. He knew he may lose the election and seat of power, but he showed an excellent spirit that is rare in Africans.
I can’t forget to mention the erstwhile president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat though he could had fought the election results but because he knew that by fighting on, more people would die, he doesn’t want a single blood to be shed unlike most African leaders would.
Africa would become better
When we begin to share books not beers
When we begin to allow others also lead without our influence
When we begin to buy the same quality of food/dress that we buy for our children also for our maids.
When our servants eat on the table with us
When the boss would first have his lower staffs get paid before him
Africa can become progressive when we begin look out for each other and not standing on the way of one another.
When we say, ‘let my brother get it with me and if I can’t get it, let me help him get it’.
God Bless Mother Africa
God bless you
