HE WILL DO BETTER
And the
LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and
gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Ex 34:6
During my
primary school days, I do fail in class and in the report card below it you’ll
read ‘he will do better if he concentrates on his studies’. This hope in my
teachers was the reason I wasn’t expelled from school for academic
incompetence. Though some level of failure might lead to demotion but not
expulsion but I was promoted on trial, in my last 2 years in school I rose up
to be the best performing child representing and wining few trophies for my
primary school.
When you
see my primary 1 to 4 results you’ll think that I don’t have any business
coming to school but from my primary 5 and 6 I became the best not just from my
school but from the whole of Ilorin west, till 2005 when I visited my primary
school last, my picture had not been replaced in the headmistress’ office wall.
Just like
my teacher then believed and was ready to suffer enduring my failures and
academic incompetence so is God willing and ready to forgive, endure our
spiritual failures.
Peter
lied and denied Christ three times and yet was forgiven, he abandoned his
calling and went back to fishing, the very life Christ called him out of taking
with him some disciples of Christ yet God endured his mistakes and early
failures and didn’t because of that take away from him the leadership of the
early church.
God is
merciful as a nature and He is willing to endure long for our mistakes no
matter how many times we make such mistakes. Christ told Peter to forgive 70
times 7 times, this shows us how many times God is willing to forgive us when
we sin.
You can’t
exhaust the mercy of God over your life, when you sin, open your mouth and ask
for forgiveness and when you sin again and again; ask for forgiveness again and
again, you can’t exhaust the mercy of God over your life.
Never let
the devil tell you that you can’t be forgiven again, when you fail the Lord,
open your mouth and ask for mercy and when you’ve asked for mercy, trust God
that He had shown mercy to you because He is always faithful to forgive all
those who had sinned against Him no matter how times they have to come a day.
When you
sin, always remember that God is merciful by nature and He still believes that
though you are failing grossly today, today you’ll not only stand strong for
Him but you’ll make many stand-strong for Him.
God bless
you
God bless
you.
