WHAT IF?
What if Joseph didn’t say no the potiphar’s
wife, made her his sex-mate, he would have her speak highly of him before
potiphar, he would get few favors from her and he would never be allowed to
leave the house of potiphar for the wife would ensure that.
Joseph would live in guilt and fear that if
potiphar finds out what would be his fate? Joseph would be in bondage and he
won’t be able to marry the wife of his dream for jealousy from potiphar’s wife
would ensure that. Joseph wouldn’t be able to go higher than potiphar to sit
with pharaoh as equals.
Immediate and quick pleasure may bring
certain bliss into our hands, but they sure hinder us from the ultimate
blessing from God.
Joseph rejected the quick offer out of
slavery, endured prison, forgotten by friends and what did he received? Became
as high as pharaoh, higher than potiphar and wife, was able to save Egypt and
his brethren from the famine to come, was revered in all land and had more than
enough for himself, family and nation.
When you compromise your faith for instant
relief from discomfort and pleasure, you may get few good things coupled with guilt and fear and bondage but you won’t get the ultimate blessings from the
Lord, and you won’t be able to be useful to yourself and the society.
A job you lied to get, you have to keep
lying to keep till you start lying to yourself, a post you bribed to get you
have to keep bribing to keep till you start bribing yourself into doing what
you don’t want to do, a contract you killed and betrayed people to get, you
have to keep betraying people to keep till you have betrayed and murdered
yourself etc. living a life where you have to keep doing evil to survive and
trying to manage the guilt by comforting yourself in the supposed pleasure is
living a vain life.
Isa 48:22 There is no peace, saith the
LORD, unto the wicked. not in this world or in the world to come.
You can still start afresh.
God bless you
