STRENGHTENING THE POOR (Intro)
The poor man doesn’t need money, he needs education.
Many years ago a boy who just lost his job walked a great distance to see me, after I saw him having heard how long he had trekked, I wanted to really help him so I asked him what he wanted, he asked that I pray for him to get a job or begin a business after he had shared with me how he starves and how poor his shelter was. I told him to draw a business plan which he did and I raised the money for him, after a while, he had returned back to that previous state he was before he had received financial help from me.
When he returned to me, he tried to accuse the devil for the failure of his business but I knew better, he wasn’t empowered mentally to handle the issues of money and on how to manage his business.
The best way to truly help the poor is not to give them fish but to teach them how to fish.
I gave him a hook, but I didn’t teach him how to fish therefore I was not able to truly help him.
God had called us to strengthen the hands of the poor. Africa is filled with millions of people who are starving, jobless and wretched.
If you feel deep in your heart to help the poor, it’s God reaching out to you to reach out to His children who are thirsty, hungered and have no place to lay their heads.
While it’s good to give them fish, but it’s nobler to teach them how to fish.
If you really want to help the poor, giving them money isn’t the good way to start. Africa has benefited from billions of dollars in aids yet hunger has ravaged her people.
When you make people to live on aid, you’ve enslaved them to food but when you make them able to provide what they need by themselves, you’ve set them free from the yoke of poverty and lack.
I’ll be posting series on how to help the poor and if you are poor, this is me helping you out of poverty forever. Mental empowerment is true empowerment.
