THE PROBLEM WITH AFRICA 4
A poorly visited bookstore sits a sales-boy who relaxes on his sales seat playing games on his phone most of the days because people rarely visits his store to patronize books. He is only busy during school resumption days because of the compulsory text-books school demands students buy before returning to school.
One day he saw an aged woman collapsed, she had had a cardiac arrest, and he was so fearful because few weeks back, his mother had suffered similar thing and before they could take her to the nearest hospital, she died.
He thought this aged woman would die also, but one person he had recognized because he often visits the bookstore to read would show up immediately and conducted CPR on her.
Later he asked him, ‘how did you know how to do that, when you aren’t a doctor?’, he said, ‘I had come to your store to pick a book that thought me how to perform CPR and know how to deal with some minor health challenges’
The boy started regretting living with books daily and not opening them and had wished if he had being reading the books, he might have known how to save his mom.
Someone had said, ‘if you want to hide anything from an African, put it inside a book’. Africans don’t read even when they get the books for free. Those who read only do so because they have exams, if there are no exams, and there are no instant fiscal rewards for reading, an average African won’t read.
The boy would have saved his mother had he read the books in his bookstore, but he preferred to play mobile games only.
When an African see another African reading, he’ll ask, ‘do you have any forthcoming exams?’
If Africans must lead, she must read. Africans should establish books clubs and buy books for Africans to inculcate in them good reading habits.
We should task ourselves to read at least a 2000 word per day and keep to it, every African should have at least a book he/she is perusing at any point in time.
The African parents should teach their children from young to read by buying books for them and encouraging them to buy books for themselves with whatsoever tips they get.
When an African child buys a book and reads it, the parents should compliment him more than when he buys shirts or foods for himself.
When Africans begin to read, she’ll become a better society. Africans who read had shown to be spectacular in every field of endeavor.
Africans who were exposed to reading are the best in the USA in terms of academic achievements
One of the reasons the blacks were denied education during the slave period was because their masters were afraid of what the African child would achieve should he read and true to his beliefs, Africans who read are leading in academia all over the world.
Its time Africans read, when we do, Africans would lead the world in every field of endeavors.
