WHO DO WE HURT WHEN WE SIN?
Oneday
one of the people I counselled shared the following story...
I
was a virgin and I vowed to keep myself till am married but after I was
diagnosed of HIV which till now I still don’t know how I got infected because
as at the time I was diagnosed of it I was still a virgin. I was angry at God
for allowing me get infected even though I was a virgin and keeping myself and
so because of that and the pressures and insults and disregards from family
members because of my HIV status, I decided not to continue keeping myself and
I became Immoral and now I need help out of immorality.
My
question is, when she became Immoral, who does she hurt, God or herself? Who
gets guilty conscience? Who lives in regret? Is it God or her?
When
we sin, we destroy our peace, we destroy our sanity, we destroy our future, and
we destroy our health or those of our neighbours.
God
is only offended at our sins because of the destruction sin brings to us and
not Him. God is happy with your righteousness because righteousness exalts you
and not Him and He delights in your exaltation and He is offended with your
sins because sins destroy you and not Him and He is not happy with your
destructions.
People
try to get back at God for the challenges in their lives by committing sin and
they forget that sin doesnt destroy God but the sinner.
When
something is wrong in your life, God is not the cause and when you let the
devil advice you into committing more sin and getting more angered at God, he
leads you into further self destructions.
If
you have sinned, what do you accomplish against him? And if your transgressions
are multiplied, what do you do to him? If you are righteous, what do you give
to him; or what does he receive from your hand? Your wickedness concerns a man
like yourself, and your righteousness a son of man. Job 35:6-8
Be
righteous for your own sake my friend.
God
bless you.
