Lesson 12
LEADING A SINNER TO GOD
The aim of every ministry, every spiritual gift and grace and every
divine calling and assignment is to lead sinners to Christ.
Whoever that doesn’t know how to lead someone to God doesn’t deserve to
be in the ministry because no matter what you do for God, if you don’t know how
to lead sinners to Christ, you’ll failed in all of your ministerial duties.
The greatest miracle in life is not the resurrection of the death, the
walking of the lame, or the seeing of the blind etc. but the transformation of
a sinner into a saint and this miracle is the miracle every saint should be
able to do.
WHY LEADING A SINNER TO CHRIST IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE
1. Lu 10:20 Notwithstanding in this
rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because
your names are written in heaven. As much as it’s a miracle to cast our demons
and deliver those under demonic oppression, Christ said, its nothing to be
compared to one having his name written in the book of life. If a minister
delivers someone from a demonic spirit and another minister leads someone to
God, the one who led someone to God has done even greater miracle and achieved
more for God than the one who just cast out evil spirit from the unsaved.
2. Lu 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise
joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety
and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Leading someone to God is the
only miracle that causes jubilation in heaven. Whoever leads sinners to Christ
causes heaven to rejoice than He who prophesies to sinners and heals the wicked
from his diseases.
3. Mt 7:22 Many will say to me in that
day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast
out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?. God is going to
disappoint many ministers who do miracles and wonderful works but forgets to
lead those they are ministering miracles and wonderful works to to God but God
would welcome with great reward those who turn many to righteousness. ‘…and
they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever’. Dan. 12:3
4. When you lead someone to God, you’ve
saved him from eternal damnation (john 3:18). Christ is God’s best gift to the
world (John 3:16), yes, leading someone to Christ is your best Gift to anyone
on earth. There is nothing you can do for someone that can be greater than
given such person Christ.
The believer
who leads more people to Christ is the believer who is greater in the sight of
God; salvation is the main purpose of every gifts and calling and ministry.
TERM
SYNONIMOUS WITH LEADING SOMEONE TO GOD
SALVATION:
though salvation is a word that carries a larger meaning in the scripture but
the first meaning is to lead someone to God. When we lead someone to God, we
can now say that that person is saved i.e. a saved person is that person who is
now in God or that has been led to God.
BEING BORN
AGAIN: to lead someone to God is also known as to help the person become BORN
AGAIN. Christ used this term to Nicodemus in John 3:3. When the spirit of a man
is recreated and the HolySpirit now brood over such person then we use the word
‘born again’ to describe the situation.
TO BE IN
CHRIST: to lead someone to Christ is another term used interchangeably with
leading someone to God. (see 2Co 5:17).
There other
terms used to describe the Born again and they are ‘second Adam (1Cor.
15:45-49), New creature (2 Cor. 5:17), Saint (Php 4:21), God’s own people, Holy
Nation, Royal priest, peculiar people (1 Pe. 2:9), God’s temple (1Co 3:16)’
HOW DO YOU
LEAD SOMEONE TO GOD
That if thou
shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart
man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation. Romans 10:9-10
When the
person has believed in His heart the word of God that Christ came and died and
God raised Him up from the dead for his sins, then lead the person into
confessing the Lordship of Christ over his life.
The person
must say it with his mouth as he declares that Christ is His Lord and personal
savior henceforth. But take-note, the Holy Spirit must first convict the person
of sin Joh 16:8 (not your sermon but the HolySpirit, that’s why you can’t do
this work without the HolySpirit) because if the person doesn’t see his need
for salvation, he won’t be saved and if He doesn’t see his need for God, he won’t
let you lead him to Him.
Activity:
Write out a prayer of salvation in your own
words.
