Lesson 14
SERMON
PRESENTATION2
The purpose
of preaching is salvation and Peter said ‘10 Be it known unto you all, and to
all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye
crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here
before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders,
which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved’. Acts 4:10-12
In sermon
presentation no matter the topic; healing, deliverance, breakthrough,
prosperity, prophetic etc. the aim is to present Christ and His work of
redemption on the cross of Calvary. Any sermon that’s not presenting Christ is
a failed sermon and every sermon no matter the topic should present Christ.
After
preaching, people should be able to call upon the saving name of Christ Jesus
if your sermon is effective.
Take note of
the following steps in presenting a sermon:
1. Study your source; The Holyspirit would
place a strong desire in your heart and this desire comes from the message that
ministered to you through another preacher or a portion of a scripture that The
HolySpirit used to minister to you.
2. Meditate on the message: when you
dwell on the message, you’ll discover how to apply it first in your life and
how to express it for others to apply it in their heart too.
3. Apply the word to yourself first: the
effect on any message on your audience will be the same effect it had on you.
Don’t preach any message that didn’t cause you to repent, built your faith,
heal your soul, gave you hope, deepen your conviction of God and inspired you
in life. That sermon that made you look unto Jesus would help others do same
too.
4. Pray for your audience: never believe
your eloquence and illustrations would convicts your audience, the HolySpirit
is still the one who convicts as you preach. Without the HolySpirit, our sermon
is absolutely nothing.
5. Have a defined topic and progress
this way: write down your topic, make bold the aim of your sermon and keep
repeating as you preach, progress from the negative to the positive and climax
on how Christ meet that need through His redemptive work on the cross.
6. Encourage your audience to see how
Christ met their needs on the cross of Calvary and appropriate the redemption
works of Christ in their lives.
Just like
you can’t have a fire without a heat (increase in temperature) likewise you
can’t preach Christ without the miracle of transformation; whenever Christ is
preached, people are made whole.
God bless
you
