THE SUNDAY WORSHIP QUESTION2
CHRIST
REACTION TO IT “And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the
Sabbath”. Luke 6:5.
Christ
was accused of not keeping the Sabbath and He paid dearly for it for its one of
the reasons the plot for His death was instigated (John 9:16, Mark 3:3-6)
because he healed, plugged fruit, doing the very things He does on other days
on the Sabbath (if you think Christ did something special on Saturday that He
never did on other days, am waiting to hear it).
Few
people says Christ worshipped on Sabbath, yes He did because He was operating
on the old covenant but Glory to God, He also fellowsipped with the disciples
on the first and second time they fellowshipped on a Sunday (See John 20:19,
26).
What
does it mean to be ‘lord of sabbath’ as Christ said. He said the ‘son of man’
(son of man is us, the created; Son of God is the creator), to be Lord of
Sabbath means the determiner of Sabbath (like saying, Sabbath is what day you
say it is), God hallowed Saturday and used it to seal His covenant with the Jewish
Christians (the country Israel operates on the different covenant than that of
the rest of the Christian in the world, this covenant was sealed with the
Saturday Sabbath(Ex. 31:17)), this shouldn’t tie the rest of the Christians to
Saturday, that’s why Christ has to mention to us that we are the lord of
Sabbath i.e. Sabbath is what day we call it to be.
Those
that called Saturday Holy days have called other days unholy and God rebuked
peter for similar act (acts. 10:15).
For
every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received
with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Tim.
4:4-5. If you say Saturday is the only day that belongs to the Lord, who owns
or created the other days. (Ps. 118:24) We should receive each day with
thanksgiving and sanctify it for our use. If I want to be worshipping on
Sundays or other days, then I should sanctify such day and that day becomes my
Sabbath. Everyday created by God is good enough to worship God.
The
only special thing about Saturday, and every 7 years and every 49 years is that
God used these days as a covenant to the Jewish nation (ex. 31:13) (Saturday is
not the only Sabbath, the seventh year, and the 7*7 years are all Sabbaths to
be counted from the day of the Jewish deliverance from bondage).
Don’t
limit yourself to Saturday worship when God has given us all days for worship.
God
bless you.
